More About Covid in Portugal

Do you need a Test/Medical Certificate?

Proof of a negative COVID-19 test, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided on departure. Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT) are accepted, such as RT-PCR. Alternatively, proof of a negative rapid antigen test can be provided, taken within the previous 48 hours. Only rapid antigen tests approved by the European Union Health Committee are accepted, further information can be found at https://ec.europa.eu/health/sites/default/files/preparedness_response/docs/covid-19_rat_common-list_en.pdf Travelers may instead provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. This must be provided via an EU Digital Certificate or issued by a third country, under reciprocal conditions.

Do you need to be vaccinated?

Travelers who present a valid certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19 issued in some countries are exempt from pre-departure testing requirements. The final dose must have been administered at least 14 days before departure. Vaccination exemptions will only apply if the full dose and certificate were issued in Europe and other specific countries. Further information on accepted vaccine certificates can be found at https://www.visitportugal.com/en/content/covid-19-measures-implemented-portugal

Do you need to wear a mask?

Face masks are required in public transport, concert halls and events, health facilities, and residential areas for the elderly.

What additional documentation is needed?

An online 'passenger locator form' must be completed before departure.
