If you want to visit Dubai, this post is for you! Traveling to and visiting Dubai from France is now easier than ever. In this post, I'll show why.

So, let's explore the Dubai visa by starting with the fundamental question:

Visa Requirement: No prearranged visa need; you can get a 90-day visa on arrival.

Visa Fees: No visa fees are required.

Visa Validity: For 6 months from the date of issue.

Stay Period: Maximum 90 days with 6 months validity.

Do French Citizens Need A Visa For Dubai?

Yes French nationals need a visa on arrival or VOA. Meaning French citizens can travel to Dubai without needing a prior visa. You can get a visa on arrival for 90 days at an international airport in the UAE.

With your VOA, you cannot stay for longer than 90 days within a 180-day period in UAE. And if you have used your stay of 90 days on arrival within the last 180 days, you cannot renew your Dubai visa.

In either case, you must apply for a new Dubai visa from France. Or wait for 180 days to pass to apply for another VOA at an airport. Alternatively, you can contact the embassy regarding the matter if you need to travel urgently to UAE.

Everything You Need To Know About The Dubai Visa For French Citizens

Before getting to the application process, you need to know a few things about the Dubai Visa for French nationals. These things include:

Who Is A Dubai Tourist Visa For?

A Dubai Tourist Visa, also known as Dubai Visit Visa, is for foreign nationals who are not eligible for a visa on arrival for Dubai or visa-free entry to the United Arab Emirates.

This visa is a short-term visa, meaning the visa is only valid for a short period. If you stay longer than the date of issue (your visa's expiry date), you will get a fine.

Additionally, a few things to keep in mind:

  • According to a Cabinet resolution passed in July 2018, children under 18 years accompanying adults can get a free visa for their visit from 15 July to 15 September each year.

  • Whereas females below 18 are not eligible to apply for this visa unless they travel with their parents.

I recommend contacting your nearest UAE Embassy or Consular if you're unsure about anything.

When Do French Citizens Need A Visa For Dubai?

French nationals need a Dubai visa to enter the country, which you can get on arrival for 90 days at an international airport in Dubai.

“What is a Visa On Arrival?” you might ask.

Well, it’s just as the name suggests. It’s a visa you receive once you arrive in Dubai. This means that you don’t have to apply for your visa before you travel.

Your visa on arrival is valid for 180 days for a stay of 90 days. Once you have used the 90 days stay in UAE, you cannot apply for a new VOA within that 180-day period. You must apply for a standard tourist visa before your trip.

Do French Residents Need A Dubai Visa?

This will depend on your nationality. If you are not from a country that enjoys visa-free or visa-on-arrival benefits in UAE, you need to apply for a Dubai visa before your trip.

If you need to apply for a Dubai Tourist Visa, don’t worry. I’ll discuss the application process later in this post.

How Much Does A Dubai Visa Cost?

Residents who cannot get a VOA can expect to pay the following Dubai visa fees from France when applying, according to the UAE government sites:

  • 30-day Single Entry Dubai visa price is AED 250 or approx. EUR 70.

  • 30-day Multiple Entry Dubai visa price is AED 690 or approx. EUR 180.

  • 90-day Single Entry Dubai visa price is AED 600 or approx. EUR 155.

  • 90-day Multiple Entry Dubai visa price is AED 1740 or approx. EUR 445.

How Long Does It Take To Process A Dubai Tourist Visa

The Dubai visa processing time may differ, but it takes approximately 3 to 5 working days for them to process your visa.

If you apply using Atlys, the visa application is easier and will save you time. It will also show you the estimated processing time it will take for your visa approval.

What Is The Validity of A Dubai Tourist Visa For French Citizens?

A Dubai visa for French citizens issued on arrival is granted for multiple entries for a 90-day stay in the UAE. This visa is stamped onto your passport and is valid for 6 months from the date of entry.

The validity and stay periods of Dubai visas vary depending on the type of visa. The following are the details of each type:

  • All Dubai visas are valid for 58 days from the date of issuance.

  • The stay period varies based on the type of visa, and you can stay for either 30, 60, or 90 days.

  • You can have a single or multiple entry visa, depending on the visa type.

  • You can enter the country during the validity period of 58 days and stay for the designated period of 30, 60, or 90 days, depending on the type of visa.

  • If you have a multiple-entry visa, you can enter and exit the country multiple times within your specified stay period.

On a side not for those who need a visa for UAE: The UAE facilitated a five-year Dubai visa that enables tourists to enter numerous times on self-sponsorship and remains in the country for 90 days on each visit, which you can extend for another 90 days.

Can French Citizens Extend Their Dubai Tourist Visa?

No, you cannot extend a Dubai visa on arrival. However, you can extend the other visa types obtained before your trip.

French nationals that have used their 90 days stay in 180 days must get a standard Dubai tourist visa using Atlys or other methods mentioned in the vlog.

However, recently, there has been news that the UAE government has started rejecting visa renewal requests. Meaning you must leave the country and apply for a new DUbai visa from France before traveling to UAE.

Apply For A Dubai Visa From France Using Airlines

Each airline has some conditions which you must meet for them to arrange your visa. To obtain a visa, each airline has specific requirements that you must meet:

  • One of the requirements is that you must travel with the airline.

  • Once you have purchased your flight ticket, you can apply for your visa on their websites.

  • Visa services are provided by Etihad Airways, Emirates Airlines, Fly Dubai, and Air Arabia.

  • You can apply for your visa online through Etihad Airways or Emirates Airlines.

  • When traveling with Fly Dubai or Air Arabia, you can contact the airlines directly to apply for your visa.

Applying Through Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways offers an online visa application service for passengers who have booked their flights with them. Applicants can visit the Etihad Airways website and fill out the application form, which requires basic personal information and travel details. The visa fee can be paid online using a credit or debit card. Once the application is approved, the visa will be sent via email.

Applying Through Emirates Airlines

Emirates Airlines also offers an online visa application service, which can be accessed through their website. This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued. The flight itinerary includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), which must be an Emirates flight.

Applying Through Fly Dubai

This can be a bit tricky. You can't necessarily apply for the visa online through their website like with the other airlines. Instead, you need to contact a travel shop near you to see if they can help you with your visa application. Unfortunately, only a few travel shops can help with your visa application for Dubai, so be sure you call to get all the relevant information.

Applying Through Air Arabia

Just like with FlyDubai, you can't apply online through the website. Instead, you need to contact the Air Arabia sales center near you. When you contact them, they'll tell you everything you need to know about applying for the Dubai Tourist Visa through Air Arabia.

Dubai Tourist Visa Through Agencies And Hotels

Licensed travel agents and hotels in the UAE can arrange a Tourist Visa if you purchase the ticket through them and maintain a hotel reservation with the specific hotel. When contacting the hotel or travel agency, ask them if they can make the visa application on your behalf.

They will likely also say if they can make the visa application on your behalf on the website.

If they can apply on your behalf, you'll need to send through all the required documentation and information they might need during the application process.

You can also contact travel agencies in your country for any tourist packages available to the UAE in collaboration with a local tour operator.

It is essential to check the authenticity of the travel agents you're dealing with. Don't pay or send copies of your official documents until you are 100 percent sure the tour operator is genuine.
