Hong Kong Student Visa For Indians: Application & Cost 2023

To be eligible for a Hong Kong Student Visa, certain requirements must be met. If you are considering studying in Hong Kong, it is important to carefully review and fulfill each of these requirements during the application process:

Age Requirement:

For secondary education, the student should be below 20 years of age.

For primary education, the student's age should be between 5 years and 8 months to 11 years.

Financial Capability:

The applicant must demonstrate the ability to cover the costs of the course of study, accommodation, and daily living expenses without relying on public funds.

Acceptance Letter:

The applicant must have an acceptance letter from a university confirming enrollment in a course of study in Hong Kong.

School Enrollment:

If the applicant intends to study in a public school other than English Foundation Schools or Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools, enrollment is restricted. Instead, enrollment should be in a private school under the Education Ordinance or Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance.

Full-Time Study:

The applicant must be enrolled in a full-time locally-approved post-secondary program, which may include short-term courses of study or part-time locally-approved taught postgraduate programs.

To make sure you have a better chance of getting a Hong Kong Student Visa, you must carefully check all the requirements and give them the right documents.

Following the rules set by the Hong Kong Immigration Department is super important. By doing this, you increase your chances of studying in Hong Kong and achieving your educational dreams!

In most cases, the sponsor is a family member, such as a parent or a close relative. However, it can also be a friend or an organization that agrees to take on the financial responsibility for the student's expenses while studying in Hong Kong. The sponsor needs to provide the following documents:

Application form: The sponsor, who is sponsoring the student, has to fill out the complete form (Form ID 995B) with a signature on it.

Undertaking of Accommodation: If the applicant is under the age of 18, the sponsor must provide an undertaking that they are willing to provide accommodation to the applicant throughout their period of study in Hong Kong.

Photocopy of Sponsor's Hong Kong Identity Card: Submit a photocopy of the sponsor's Hong Kong Identity Card, showcasing their personal particulars.

Photocopy of Sponsor's Travel Document: Provide a photocopy of the sponsor's travel document containing personal particulars, date of issue, date of expiry, as well as the latest arrival stamp, landing slip, or extension of stay label in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Non-permanent residents of the HKSAR should also include the latest issued "e-Visa" if applicable.

Photocopy of Proof of Sponsor's Financial Standing: Include a photocopy of proof demonstrating the sponsor's financial standing. This can include bank statements, savings account passbooks, tax receipts, and salary slips.

Undertaking of Financial Support: The sponsor must provide an undertaking that they are prepared to provide financial support to the applicant throughout their period of study in Hong Kong.

To obtain the visa, all international students are required to pay a non-refundable fee of HK$ 230 (approx. ₹ 2415). You can pay this fee in different ways, like using cash, a debit/credit card.

Please note that the ₹ price is based upon exchange rates in July 2023, and these prices can fluctuate.

The processing time for a visa/entry permit application for the study is typically around six weeks, starting from the date when all the required documents are received. 

The processing time refers to the duration it takes for the authorities to review and approve the visa application after all the necessary documents have been submitted. 

It is important to note that the Immigration Department will only commence the processing of the application once all the necessary documents and information have been received.
