What Is The Uganda Business Visa?
The Uganda business visa allows Indian nationals to travel to Uganda for business purposes. There are two types of business visas:
Business Tourist Visa: With this visa, you can only attend meetings and conferences. You can apply for this visa online just like you would for a normal tourist visa. However, you need extra documents which I’ll discuss later in this post. This is a single-entry visa, not a multiple entry visa.
Class D - Business and Trade: This visa is issued to shareholders of companies engaged in General trade and is a long-term visa. You can apply for a visa valid for 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, and 36 months.
Indian nationals can apply for either one of the business visas depending on their purpose of travel.
What Are The Uganda Business Visa Required Documents?
During your business visa application, you must upload certain documents. These documents are crucial for your application. If you forget one of the documents, you won’t be able to submit your application. You need the following documents:
Passport: You need a scanned copy of your passport biodata page. The passport must be valid for 6 months from your date of entry to Uganda.
Passport photo: You must have a recent passport photo.
Yellow fever: Copy of your yellow fever vaccination certificate.
Invitation letter: You must upload a copy of the invitation letter for the conference you’re attending.
These are the documents you need when you apply for the Tourist business visa.
Documents You Need If You Apply For The Class D- Business And Trade Visa
The documents required are as follows:
Covering letter: Covering letter from the company stating what the company deals in.
Immigration status: You must provide proof of your current immigration status.
Tax clearance: Copy of Valid income Tax clearance.
Proof of funds: Copy of your bank statements for the last three months.
Passport photo: You need a copy of a recent passport-size photo.
Trading license: Copy of your valid trading license
Passport: You need a scanned copy of your passport bio-data page with at least 6 months of validity.
Clearance letter: Valid Clearance letter from Interpol or your home country.
List of employees: You need a list of employees in the company indicating their nationality and their position.
Upload Requirements
Your documents must meet certain upload requirements:
Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, BMP, and PDF.
Minimum file size: 5 KB.
Maximum file size: 250 KB.
How To Apply For A Uganda Business Visa For Indians
The application process for a business visa for Uganda is fairly straightforward. You can apply for this visa online. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply:
Step 1: Start Your Application
Go to the Uganda E Immigration System website, click on “Start Application", and accept the terms and conditions displayed in the Disclaimer.
Step 2: Type Of Application
Select the type of application, Visa or permit type. You must also choose a category which will be the Uganda Ordinary/Tourist eVisa. The subcategory will automatically select Single Entry.
Step 3: Visa Application Form
The Uganda application form is divided into 4 categories:
Group data: If you want to associate the visa application with a group you must choose between the two options given.
Personal information: This includes your name, surname, date of birth, gender, marital status, current nationality, etc.
Passport data: You must enter your passport type, passport number, issuing country, place of issue, date of issue, etc.
Other data: Provide your address in Uganda, duration of stay requested, specific period in days, duration in months, and the course to be undertaken.
Step 4: Required Documents
Upload all the required documents mentioned earlier in this post. The supported formats for the documents are PDF, JPEG, PNG, and BMP. Your file must not be bigger than 250 KB.
Step 5: Submit Your Application
Once you submit your Uganda business visa application, you will receive a notification with an application number you can use to track your application.
Step 6: Pay The Visa Fee
To pay the visa fee, you must go to the Immigration portal and click on “Applications.” This will open a drop-down. Click on the last heading, “Manage Applications.”
Enter your application ID, passport number, and date of birth. You’ll be able to pay your visa fee.
Step 7: Receive Your Visa
After your visa is approved, you'll receive an email with an attachment of the e-visa approval/authorization to travel. This attachment should be printed and presented to the immigration officer upon arrival in Uganda.
This is the application process for the tourist business visa. If you want to apply for the Class D - Business and Trade visa you can follow the same steps. However, at the beginning of the application you must choose “Entry Permit” as your permit type and “Class D-Business and Trade” as your category. The application form might look a little different.
How Can I Check My Uganda Business Visa Status?
After applying for your visa, you can check your Uganda visa status to keep an eye on the progress. To do this, you must go to the Uganda E Immigration System and click on “Manage Application” and enter the following details:
Application ID.
Passport number.
Date of birth.
You’ll be able to see the status of your visa once you click “Check Application Status.”

How Much Is The Uganda Business Visa Fee For Indians?
The cost of the business visa depends on what type you apply for. The business tourist visa costs USD 50. However, the Class D- Business and Trade visa cost depends on the validity you choose:
The 6-month visa costs USD 1250.
The 12-month business visa costs USD 1000. It also has a pre-payment fee of USD 1500.
The 24-month visa costs USD 3500 and has a pre-payment fee of USD 1500.
The 36-month business visa costs USD 6000. It has a pre-payment fee of USD 1500.
The visa fees for both visas are non-refundable.
What Is The Uganda Business Visa Processing Time?
The processing time for both visas is around 2-3 business days. This does not include weekends or public holidays.
What Is The Uganda Business Visa Validity?
The validity of your Uganda business visa from India depends on your visa type. If you apply for the tourist business visa, you receive a visa valid for 3 months. However, the Class D - Business and Trade visa can be valid for 6 months, 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months.
Can They Reject My Uganda Business Visa For Indians?
Yes, they can. Unfortunately, visa rejections do happen. However, if you ensure that you submit all the required documents and complete the application form truthfully you shouldn’t have any problems.
