Atlantis, the Palm have always been at the top of people's bucket lists.
In 2007 the first Atlantis hotel, The Palm, was opened on the artificially built island – of Palm Jumeirah. This redefined Dubai's skyline forever.
With Atlantis the Palm being the height of luxury nestled between turquoise waters and the spectacular Dubai skyline, it is no wonder that the Palm is a globally famous 7-star hotel.
But there’s a new girl in town.
Opening in 2022 Atlantis, the Royal can be easily identified by its magnificent and unique design. The sleek and contemporary design resembles the look of shipping containers stacked on each other. However, this ‘shipping container’ look is dripping in decadence. Around 90 000 square meters of glass and 150 000 square meters of marble were used. Costing about 1.6bn dollars to build, the hotel spans 17 hectares.
Atlantis the Royal is being built on the plot adjacent to the Palm. Together the two resorts will cover 63 hectares. That is equivalent to 155 soccer fields.
Managing Director and Executive Vice President of Atlantis Dubai, Tim Kelly, says: “Atlantis The Royal is designed for a different type of customer.”
Atlantis The Royal has 44 unique villas in the sky, with 795 rooms, spectacular restaurants and bars, and many entertainment venues.
Each villa has its own sparkling blue infinity pool. When combined with The palm resort, the resort collectively has 92 swimming pools. The Royal resort's most significant pool is a 100m long sky pool with incredible views of the Dubai Skyline.
‘It’s designed to be experienced from the inside looking out, and that’s what’s very special. So regardless of where you are, whether it’s a room, a restaurant, a public space, or on the beach, you have this beautiful view of the Arabian Gulf or the Dubai skyline’, says Tim Kelly
The exterior can be seen to exhibit raging water fountains, lush palm trees, and a magnificent marble and glass-designed hotel. The hotel will introduce the world's first fire and water fountain.
The hotel also takes a unique approach to its 3000 square meter wellness center. The wellness center features indoor and outdoor fitness spaces, spas, and styling salons. What makes it so unique is that the wellness center will also focus on health and mental wellbeing.
The lobby, amongst other things, is a sight to behold. You will find 3 aquariums and the world's largest jellyfish tank, housing approximately 4000 jellyfish.
Out of the 18 restaurants and bars, 8 will be backed by celebrity chefs:
It is genuinely the Sky Bar, Cloud 22, that will steal the show.
Cloud 22, appropriately named, can be found on the 22nd floor. This bar will probably become the most popular place for a sundowner drink as it includes views of the 90m sky infinity pool and gorgeous pink and orange hues as the sun sets over the magnificent Dubai Skyline.
The hotel will offer 43 floors of guest rooms on the west wing and 37 floors of residential spaces on the east wing.
For luxury living, the resort includes 4 Sky Court residences amongst their 231 residential homes on offer.
Sky Court residences offer options with 2,3, and 4 bedrooms; each home features a beautiful infinity pool, landscaped gardens, and spectacular views.
While the most luxurious hotel room will be the Royal Mansion suite costing up to 50 000 dollars an evening.
Each visitor will have access to a 2km long private beach across both resorts.

Guests will have unlimited access to the one-of-a-kind Aquaventure. AquaVenture is the biggest waterpark in the Middle East and has won multiple awards.
The waterpark has 105 hair-raising and adrenaline-inducing slides. It takes approximately 45 minutes to float around the entire park in a 2.3 km long river ride.
The 3 most chilling experiences that aqua venture offers are:
A state-of-the-art helmet will allow you to breathe while walking on the bottom of a shark-infested lagoon. Is this something that you would try?
This slide takes you through a tube where you have a 360-degree view of a shark-infested lagoon.
This horrifying slide is not for the faint-hearted. They are plunging you almost vertically through a fiberglass tube leading through the shark-infested lagoon at 60km/h. Most people get to the top, look down, and instantly regret their decision to go on this ride. If you are an adrenaline junky, this is a not-to-be-miss attraction.
Visitors will also have access to The lost chamber Aquarium.
Located at Atlantis, The palm, this aquarium features immersive glass passages. When walking through these tunnels, some of the sea life you can encounter include stingrays, sharks, piranhas, and many more. There are 65 000 different marine creatures housed within this aquarium.
There are also 20 interactive marine exhibits where you might even get to interact with or feed some of the animals.
Dubai is host to many luxury hotels. Dubai has the world-famous Burj Al Arab hotel with its luxury suite costing 24 000 dollars an evening. But now, even surpassing that price range is Atlantis, The Royal.
