What Is The Turkey Transit Visa?

The Turkey Transit Visa is an entry permit that allows travelers to transit through Turkey to another country.

It's very important to understand that you only need a Transit Visa if you want to pass Turkish Immigration.

Luckily the Transit Visa is now an online Visa application. So you do not have to go to the Turkish Embassy or Consular to apply for a "Sticker Visa" (also known as the paper Visa).

Let me explain by using an example:

I visited India for some time off during my summer vacation a few years ago. Unfortunately, my flight got diverted to Istanbul Airport on my way back to the US.

Although I'm a US citizen, I require a Visa to enter Turkey and, therefore, couldn't pass through Immigration. Luckily you don't need a Transit Visa if you stay in the transit area during your layover.

So I just waited for my connecting flight in the transit area. I advise buying earphones because long layovers can be frustrating if you're bored.
