In the Arab Republic of Egypt, most foreign citizens will have to apply for a visa that serves the purpose of their travel. When applying for a visa, one must also consider the fact that visa requirements might change according to nationality, the purpose of the visit, and the duration of the stay.

Currently, there are 7 countries: Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates that have the exemption and are permitted to spend up to 3 months visa-free in Egypt.

The rest of the countries must either apply for an electronic visa or get a visa on arrival. Only the countries that are eligible for visas on arrival are the ones that can apply for Egypt eVisa. These two visas are available for the following 46 countries:

Before applying for the Egypt Visa for US citizens, you must gather all the required documents for the visa application process. All the forms must be duly filled and signed. Apply The Old Fashion Way

Applicants can apply for the in-person at the embassy, via mail, or online (for the countries eligible for the Egypt eVisa) and pay the stipulated amounts. When mailing, applicants in the US must submit a Cashier's Check to Egypt Consulate only; as they do not accept Money Orders or Personal Checks.

If applying in person, The Consulate will only accept cash. Applicants submitting mailed applications must provide express post or certified mail to receive the visa.

For the eVisa, the application must be filled out online along with digital copies of the required documents. And the payment can be made online with a credit or debit card.

If the applicant is mailing the application in the UK, the fees must be paid by postal order. If paying in person, the applicant must only pay the fees in cash.

In certain cases, biometric data might be required for which an appointment will be set for personal appearance. In the US, only United States Postal Service (USPS) mailers must be used with a valid tracking number.

The Egypt Visa's processing time is at least 10 working days in the US from when the mailed application is received.

Though the application for the eVisa is quick and easy, applicants are advised to apply for their eVisa 7 days before departure to receive the visa timely. It takes 5 working days to process the visa.

When applying for an eVisa credit card or a debit card is required for online payment. A USD $2 or £ 3 fee is applicable for administrative purposes. The visa fees for the following countries are as follows:

Once in Egypt on the Egypt Tourist Visa, if the applicant wishes to continue to travel to Egypt for tourism purposes, the visa can be extended with a 6-month temporary Residence Visa, allowing him/her to stay longer than the original validity period.

When applying for a visa, an applicant applies for a single entry or multiple entry visas. A single entry visa allows a person to stay in Egypt for a maximum of 30 days, and the visa is valid for 6 months. A multiple entry visa allows a collective stay of 90 days and is valid for 6 months. It also allows a person to travel to Egypt more than once.

US citizens can now register at the nearest US embassy in Egypt. By registering at the embassy, ​​US travelers can feel more secure and prepared for emergencies.

• A duly completed Egypt Visa application form with ONE photo stapled to the form and ONE copy of the completed application form with a photo

• Actual valid passport for at least 6 months validity

• Two copies of the letter from the company indicating the detailed purpose of the trip and financial guarantee of the company

Business Visa for Other National Passport Holders

A duly completed Egypt Visa application form with ONE photo stapled to the form and ONE copy of the completed application form with a photo

• Two recent high definition, 2″ x 2″(45mm x 35mm), UK, EU, or US passport photos on white background
• Actual valid passport for at least 6 months validity
• Two copies of the information page and has an empty Visa page
• Two copies of a green card (front and back) or the valid UK, EU, or US Visa
• Two copies of the letter from the company entailing the financial guarantee and a detailed description of the purpose of travel.

Electronic Visa or eVisa

The Egypt eVisa is only available as an Egypt Tourist Visa. Once the visa is approved, the applicants receive it via email and must print the visa copy. The applicants must meet the minimum requirements and have the following documents that the Egyptian Government stipulates:

• A duly completed visa application form with ONE photo stapled to the form and one copy of the completed application form with a photo
• Two recent high definition, 2″ x 2″(45mm x 35mm), UK, EU, or US passport photos on white background
• Scanned passport page
• Credit or debit card for the visa application fees
• Email address

Visa on Arrival

This kind of Egypt Visa is only available to countries that can apply for an Egyptian eVisa. Furthermore, this visa is only available as a single entry visa to personnel traveling to Egypt and is valid for 30 consecutive days. Applicants must queue, fill out the form, and purchase the visa sticker to present with their passport at the immigration desk.

• The passport must be valid for at least 6 months and with at least 1 blank page
• Cash fee for the Egypt Visa on Arrival: 25 USD (cash in EUR and GBP also accepted)

Visa for Personnel that belongs to countries that require pre-approval

• A duly completed Egypt Visa application form with one photo stapled to the form and one copy of the completed application form with a photo
• One recent high definition 2″ x 2″(45mm x 35mm), UK, EU, or US passport photo on white background
• Two copies of the information page (still valid for at least 6 months) and has an empty Visa page
• Two copies of a green card (front and back) or the valid UK, EU, or US Visa
• Two copies of employment verification for work-visa holders
• Two copies of School registration for Student Visa Holders ONLY
• Yellow fever vaccination certificate for countries that have a high risk of yellow fever.
• Visa application fees
