The Indian government has rolled out a new fast-track immigration system for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders at major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Part of the government's larger vision for ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, India’s goal to become a developed country by 2047, the FTI-TTP allows pre-verified travellers to go through immigration checks much faster.

We did a detailed research, and in this article, we’ll guide you through the fast-track immigration process in India.

What is the fast-track immigration process in India?

This initiative, the Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP), is designed to speed up and make international travel more convenient.

The main goal of this program is to speed up immigration for pre-verified travellers by letting them use automated e-gates that scan their biometrics for quick and secure entry.

Which airports in India have a fast-track immigration facility?

The programme was first introduced in June 2024 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3). It aims to offer a smoother and more secure experience for Indian and OCI travellers arriving from abroad.

Later, Home Minister Amit Shah expanded the service to seven more major airports: Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.

How much does the fast-track immigration cost?

The program is completely free of cost.

Both Indian citizens and OCI cardholders are eligible to enrol. Once your FTI-TTP application is approved, you can skip long immigration lines at select airports and simply walk through the e-gates after a quick on-the-spot biometric check.
