Refunds, Rejections & Reapplications
What if my Costa Rica visa application is rejected?
If your Costa Rica visa application is rejected, carefully identify the reasons for rejection. Address the issues and once resolved, consider reapplying with a more thorough application.
Here are the two important points that you must know:
Factors leading to possible approval: If the first visa rejection was due to straightforward reasons, such as small inaccuracies or missing documents, you can expect your application to get approved the second time upon addressing the issue.
Factors likely to result in another rejection: Certain factors may lead to repeated rejections if not adequately addressed. Previous immigration violations, security-related concerns, and insufficient proof of funds are more complex issues that can negatively impact your application. To enhance your chances of success, it is best to consult visa experts.
Entry & Exit Regulations
My travel date to Costa Rica has been postponed. Will my issued visa still be valid?
Yes, your visa might still be valid, depending on your new travel date and visa validity period. Check the "date of expiry" on your visa. If your new travel dates fall within the validity period, you can use the issued visa. Otherwise, you will need to apply for a new visa.
Visa Extension & Overstays
Can I extend my Costa Rica visa while in the country?
Yes, you can apply for a Costa Rica visa extension at the Directorate General of Immigration. Make sure to apply for the extension before your current visa expires.
