Refunds, Rejections & Reapplications
Why was my Mexico visa rejected?
There are several reasons why a Mexican visa application might be refused. Common causes include:
Incomplete or Incorrect Documentation
Missing documents, incorrect formats, or unsigned forms can lead to rejection.
Not providing translations of documents (if requested) may also cause issues.
Lack of Proof of Strong Ties to India
The embassy wants assurance that you will return to your home country after your trip.
If you don’t provide documents such as employment letters, family ties, or property ownership proof, your application may be rejected.
Insufficient Financial Evidence
You must show you have enough funds to support your stay in Mexico.
Weak or inconsistent bank statements, or a lack of income tax returns, can raise red flags.
Invalid or Damaged Passport
If your passport is close to expiry, damaged, or lacks blank pages, your application could be denied.
Failure to Meet Photo Requirements
Not submitting recent passport-size photos that meet official Mexico visa specifications may result in rejection.
Previous Immigration Issues
Overstaying a visa in another country or being blacklisted for immigration violations can affect your application.
Unclear Purpose of Visit
If your documents don’t clearly establish why you are visiting Mexico (tourism, business, etc.), the consulate may doubt your intentions.
Can I reapply for a Mexico visa after rejection?
Yes, you can reapply after rejection. However, you should:
Identify the reason for the rejection.
Correct the errors or provide additional documents before reapplying.
Wait for a reasonable period before resubmitting (unless the embassy specifically advises otherwise).
Reapplying without addressing the original issues often leads to another refusal.
How to ensure your Mexico visa application is not rejected?
To increase your chances of approval, follow these steps:
Provide Complete and Accurate Information
Double-check that your name, date of birth, passport number, and other personal details match exactly with your passport.
Avoid spelling errors or mismatched details.
Ensure Passport Validity
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your planned date of arrival in Mexico.
It should have at least two blank pages for visa stamping.
Submit Proper Photographs
Provide recent passport-size colored photographs that meet the Mexico visa photo requirements (generally 35×45 mm, white background).
Show Strong Ties to India
Provide employment proof (job letter, salary slips, approved leave letter).

Submit a Clear Travel Plan
Provide flight bookings (round-trip preferred).
Show hotel reservations or an invitation letter from your host in Mexico.
A well-organised itinerary adds credibility to your application.

Attend Your Appointment Prepared
