Do I need to submit my passport at the embassy when applying for a Costa Rica visa?

Yes, you must submit your passport at the embassy for the Costa Rica visa application. However, if you apply through Atlys, we will submit your documents at the embassy on your behalf.

How early should I apply for my Costa Rica visa?

Applying for your Costa Rica visa at least 3-4 weeks before visiting Costa Rica is advised.

What documents do I need when applying for a Costa Rica visa?

When applying for your Costa Rica visa, you must submit the following documents:

  • Passport: You need a passport that is valid for at least six more months.

  • Passport Copy: You must submit a copy of each of your passport’s pages.

  • Application form: You must fully and accurately complete the visa application form.

  • Proof of Accommodation: Show proof of stay by submitting hotel reservations.

  • Flight Tickets: Provide your flight itinerary by submitting your flight bookings.

  • Police Clearance Certificate: The police clearance certificate must be issued by the relevant Regional Passport Office and be duly apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs. You also require a Spanish translation of the certificate.

  • Cover Letter: Submit a cover letter providing all your details, including your address, occupation, and contact details.

  • Bank Statements: You must submit your bank statements to prove you have sufficient funds for your trip.

  • Tax Returns: If applicable, your last 3 year’s income tax returns.

What happens if my visa gets rejected?

If your visa is rejected, you can reapply for your visa. To do so, you must ensure that all your documents are provided and you meet the requirements.

Reapplying for your visa causes you to pay the visa fees again since the government or visa portals will not refund them. Instead, you can apply through Atlys, where you are guaranteed a refund of up to ₹8000 or $100 on rejected visas. This refund will not include the service fee.

Can I get a multiple-entry visa for Costa Rica?

Yes, the tourist visa for Costa Rica is a multi-entry visa. This allows you to enter the country multiple times.

Do I need to attend an interview when applying for a Costa Rica visa?

An interview is not always required when applying for your Costa Rica visa. However, this depends on each application, and if the authorities find it necessary, they can ask you to attend an interview.
