General Information
Do Indians need a visa for Chile?
Yes, Indian citizens generally need a visa before travelling to Chile. Indians will need to apply for a Chile sticker visa.
Is there any visa-free exception for Indians?
Yes. If you hold a valid U.S. visa (any type except C-transit) or a U.S. Green Card with at least 6 months’ validity at arrival, you’re exempt from a Chile tourist visa for stays up to 90 days.
Can I work on a tourist visa?
No. The autorización previa/visa for short stays does not permit paid work, except limited cases that require a separate authorisation through SERMIG.

Application Process
How to apply for a Chile visa from India?
Follow these steps to apply for a Chile visa using Atlys:
Visit Atlys: You can start your application by visiting the Atlys website or app and searching for Chile, and hitting the start application button.
Click selfie: You can take a selfie or upload one using your phone camera.
Upload documents: Upload your passport’s front and last page. You can also buy travel insurance through Atlys or choose your own option.
Select address: Enter your address details so the atlys executive can pick up your passport and other documents from your entered address
Pay the fee: Pay the applicable visa fee and checkout.
Approval: After the visa is approved, your visa and passport will be delivered to your selected address.

You can easily track your Chile visa application progress by visiting the “My profile” section on the Atlys application.
How much time does it take to get a Chile visa?
Chile tourist visa processing can take several weeks to a few months. Most guidance recommends applying well in advance, as standard tourist visas often take about 30-40 days to process, though timelines can vary by consulate, season, and the completeness of your documents.
What is the validity of a Chile visa?
The Chile tourist visa is typically valid for up to 90 days, while the permitted stay is generally 30 days unless the visa label or immigration at entry specifies otherwise.

Why was my Chile visa rejected?
Common reasons include incomplete/incorrect documents, insufficient funds, unclear itinerary or purpose, or adverse travel/security history. Make sure your documents (funds, bookings, employment, return ties) are consistent and verifiable.
Can I reapply for a Chile visa after rejection?
Yes. You can reapply with stronger evidence, or (in some cases) seek a reconsideración (review) according to Chilean procedures, which is useful if you believe the decision was made in error and can provide new proof.
