Egypt Visa Photo Colour

Photos must be taken in full colour and clearly display your natural skin tone. Black-and-white or filtered images are not acceptable.

Egypt Visa Photo Background

The background must be plain white and free from shadows, textures, patterns, or other distractions. Proper lighting is important; even lighting is required to avoid shadows on the face or background.

Face Size & Positioning

Your face should be centred and facing the camera directly. Both sides of your face must be visible with no tilt, and your facial features (eyes, nose, mouth, and eyebrows) must be fully shown.

Facial Expression

You must maintain a neutral expression, with your mouth closed and no visible teeth. Smiling or exaggerated expressions will not be accepted.

Lighting, Focus & Clarity

Photos must be sharp and clear, showing all facial details without blur or pixelation. Proper brightness and contrast are required. Photos must be free from overexposure, underexposure, red-eye, or digital enhancement.

Headgear & Hats

Headgear is not allowed unless worn for religious reasons. In such cases, the face must be fully visible from the chin to the forehead, including eyes, ears, nose, and eyebrows. The forehead should be uncovered enough to show the shape of your face. Hats and fashion caps are not permitted.

Recent Photo Requirement

Photos must be recent, taken within the last 1 month, and should accurately reflect your current appearance.

No Borders Allowed

Your photo must be borderless. It should not have frames, outlines, or any visual edges.

No Staple Marks or Damage

Photos should be clean and undamaged. Avoid photos with staple holes, folds, creases, or ink marks. These will lead to rejection.

Originals Only

Scanned or colour photocopies are not accepted. You must submit original, high-quality prints or digital versions directly from a camera or phone (no scans of older images).

Egypt Visa Photo Requirements for Children

  • Children must be photographed alone – no hands, toys, or furniture should be visible

  • The face and shoulders must be clearly shown

  • A neutral or calm expression is preferred

  • Eyes should be open, though not mandatory for infants

  • Background and lighting must follow the same standards as adult photos

  • The child must be facing straight at the camera, with the head centred

  • Ensure the photo is recent and matches the required dimensions (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)

Do’s & Don’ts of Egypt Visa Photos

Do:

  • Use a plain white background

  • Keep a neutral expression, mouth closed

  • Make sure the face is centred and visible

  • Ensure even lighting, with no shadows

  • Submit a recent, unedited, high-quality photo

  • Make sure the entire face (including ears, forehead, and chin) is visible

Don’t:

  • Don’t smile, tilt your head, or show teeth

  • Don’t wear hats, caps, or fashion accessories

  • Don’t use filters, editing apps, or enhancements

  • Don’t wear glasses or coloured contact lenses

  • Don’t submit blurry, dark, scanned, or damaged photos

  • Don’t allow hands, toys, or objects in children's photos

What should I wear in my Egypt visa photo?

Wear everyday clothing in solid, neutral colours. Avoid uniforms, white tops (which may blend with the background), or anything flashy. Religious attire is allowed, but the face must remain visible.

Can I use a passport photo for my Egypt visa?

It's safer to take a new photo specifically for the visa only if it meets all Egypt visa photo specifications, including the correct size (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm), white background, and recency.

What happens if my photo is slightly smaller or larger than required?

Even slight deviations can lead to rejection. Your photo must be exactly 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, with correct face coverage. Using the Atlys tool automatically ensures perfect dimensions.

What kind of lighting should I use when taking my visa photo at home?

Use natural daylight or soft, white indoor lighting. Ensure your face is evenly lit and no shadows appear behind or on your face.
