Detailed Iran Visa Photo Requirements

Here’s a more detailed explanation for each requirement related to the passport photo for the Iran visa

Iran Visa Photo Size

Your photo must be 400 × 600 pixels (width × height), maintaining a rectangular shape with height greater than width. To meet biometric standards, your face should occupy about 70 to 80 per cent of the frame.

Iran Visa Photo Requirements (No-Login Required)

File Size & Format

Your digital photo must be saved as a JPG or JPEG. File size should be at least 10 KB but no more than 500 KB to comply with embassy requirements while preserving quality.

Iran Visa Photo Background

The photo background must be plain white or off‑white. Do not include shadows, textures or patterns to distinguish facial features clearly.

Face Size & Positioning

Centre your head upright, facing the camera. Your face should fill around 70 to 80 per cent of the image. Ensure full visibility of the face from chin to crown, including shoulders.

No Borders Allowed

Photos must be borderless. Any frames or margins may lead to rejection.

Recent Photo Required

The photo must be taken within the last six months and accurately reflect your current appearance.

Photo Quality & Clarity

The photo must be sharp, well‑lit, and in focus. Avoid pixelation, blurriness, over‑ or under‑exposure, red‑eye, or any damage.

Orientation & Head Position

Face the camera straight on with eyes open and mouth closed. Keep a neutral expression. Do not tilt your head.

Glasses & Headgear Guidelines

Eyeglasses are not allowed unless medically necessary; frames must not cover the eyes, and no glare should obscure the eyes. Head coverings worn daily for religious reasons are permitted only if they do not cover any part of the face or cast shadows.

Accessories & Clothing

Remove headphones, microphones or any devices. Daily‑worn clothing is fine. Uniforms are not permitted except for religious attire worn daily.

Minor and Infant Guidelines

Children under 16 require only one standard visa photo. For babies under one year, eyes may be closed. The baby must be alone in the photo against a plain background, with a neutral expression.

How should I dress for an Iran visa photo?

No. A neutral expression is required; no smiling, no frowning. Your mouth should be closed, and your eyes open and looking directly at the camera.

Can I wear makeup in my Iran visa photo?

Yes, but it should be minimal and natural-looking. Avoid heavy makeup, contouring, or anything that alters your facial features significantly.
