Frequently Asked Questions

Questions travellers actually ask. Still curious? Our visa experts answer every question on WhatsApp, email or call.

All foreign nationals wishing to travel to Kenya must apply for a valid e-visa (officially, Electronic Travel Authorisation or eTA) before the start of their journey. After applying for the visa, it is best to stay updated with the progress of your visa application to ensure that everything is in order for your trip. That is why we have created the Atlys Kenya e-visa status tracking tool, which allows you to check your visa status in just two minutes!

Even if you have applied for a Kenya e-visa through the government website, you can use our tool to check the status of your visa application!

How do I verify my Kenya e-visa or eTA?

Here is how you can verify your Kenya e-visa or eTA upon receiving it:

  1. Step 1: Visit the Kenyan government’s eCitizen website

  2. Step 2: Select ‘eVisa Application’ in the Select Service tab.

  3. Step 3: Enter the reference or application number.

  4. Step 4: Click ‘Search,’ after which you will see all the important information about your e-visa. Match the displayed details with the ones on the received e-visa to confirm its authenticity.

My Kenya e-visa status shows "rejected." What should I do?

If your Kenya visa application status shows “rejected,” understand and address the reasons for rejection before reapplying. Some of the common Kenya visa rejection reasons include:

  • Incomplete or inaccurate application: Missing or mismatching information on your visa application can often lead to visa rejection.

  • Invalid passport: Having a passport with a validity of less than six months (at least) from the arrival date in Kenya.

  • Incorrect photograph: Submitting photos that do not meet the visa photo requirements (e.g., must be clear, unedited, and not older than 6 months) can cause issues.

Worried about another visa rejection? Apply with Atlys, and let our experts ensure that nothing stops you from getting a Kenya eTA this time!

What information do I need to check my Kenya visa status?

You will need your passport number, date of birth and reference number to track the visa status on the Atlys tracking tool.

Can I check the Kenya visa status using my passport number?

Yes, you can easily track the Kenya e-visa status by passport number on the Atlys status tracking tool.

My Kenya e-visa status is still showing "in process." What can I do?

If your Kenya e-visa status is still showing "in process," there might be two possible scenarios:

  • Still within the processing window: The Kenya e-visa processing generally takes 3 working days. So, it's normal for the status to remain "in process" during this period.

  • Processing delays: If the status remains unchanged even after the processing time is over, check your email's spam or junk folder to see if you have missed any updates. If there are no updates, contact the e-visa support team of the application platform through which you applied.

Can I check my Kenya visa application status offline?

No, you cannot check your Kenya visa status offline. The e-visa process is fully digital and monitored directly by the Kenyan immigration authorities. Embassies or consulates are not involved in this process.
