Applying for a Singapore visa? One of the most important requirements is a photograph that meets the specifications set by Singapore's ICA (Immigration & Checkpoints Authority). If your photograph doesn’t meet these guidelines, it could delay the visa processing or even cause the rejection of your application.

We’ve created the Atlys Singapore visa photo maker to make the visa process easier for you. This tool automatically adjusts your photo’s size and background to meet ICA requirements.

We’ve also listed the official ICA photo specifications below for your reference.

Important Note: You cannot use the same photo from a previous visa application when applying for a Singapore visa. Each time, you must submit a fresh photo.

How to use the Atlys Singapore visa photo maker tool?

Here are the steps to create and adjust your photo to meet Singapore visa photo size requirements:

  1. Take or upload your photo: Choose a clear image in JPEG, JPG, or PNG format. You can also take a new selfie directly within the tool.

  2. Click Transform: After confirming the photo, click Transform.

Document Image

Singapore Visa Photo File Size & Format

The photo must be in JPG format and should not exceed 60 KB in file size. This ensures smooth uploading during the visa application process.

Singapore Visa Photo Background

A plain white background is required. No patterns, shadows, or objects must be visible behind you. A clean background ensures clarity and easy identification.

Face Size & Positioning

Your face should occupy about 80% of the photograph. Ensure your full face is visible, centered in the frame, and your features are distinguishable from the background.

No Borders Allowed

The photo must be borderless. Images with frames, lines, or edges around the face will not be accepted.

Recent Photos

The photo must have been taken within the last three months before your application to ensure it accurately represents your current appearance.

Orientation & Head Position

Your head must be straight and facing directly forward. You must have a full-frontal view with both eyes open and look at the camera. No tilting or turning of the head is allowed.

Quality

The photo must be clear, sharp, and in focus. Avoid blurry, pixelated, or overexposed images. Good lighting is essential to avoid shadows across the face or background.

Facial Expression

Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed and no visible teeth. Smiling, frowning, or exaggerated expressions are not allowed.

Print Finish (for physical copies):

Printed photos must be on matte or semi-matte (non-reflective) photo paper. Glossy finishes are discouraged as they may cause reflections that interfere with facial recognition.

Singapore visa photo requirements for minors

In case of minor applications, additional guidelines apply, which are:

  • Babies under one year old do not need to have their eyes open.

  • A clear, front-facing photograph is required.

  • The child must be alone in the photo, with a neutral expression and mouth closed.

  • No toys or other people should be visible in the background.

  • The photograph must be of high quality.

Do's and Don’ts of Singapore visa photo

To make sure your visa photo gets approved, follow these specifications outlined by the ICA:

Do This:

  • Take the photo with even brightness (no shadows or overexposure).

  • Ensure your photo is recent (taken within the last 3 months).

  • Keep a neutral expression (mouth closed, no smile).

  • Your shoulders and hair should be fully visible.

  • The background must be plain white.

  • If you wear headgear, it must be dark-colored and contrast with the background.

  • Glasses must have clear lenses (no glare, no reflections, and eyes fully visible).

  • Digital photos must be original without any alterations (or filters).

Avoid This:

  • Avoid shadows, overexposure, or dark photos.

  • Do not smile, frown, or raise your eyebrows.

  • No pixelation or blurriness. Ensure your photo is sharp and high resolution.

  • No coloured contact lenses or red eyes.

  • Hair should not cover the face, and eyes must be fully visible.

  • No flipped or altered images. The photo must show your actual features as they are.

Can I use a selfie for my Singapore visa photo?

No, a selfie is not recommended, as it often does not meet ICA requirements. However, by using the Atlys visa photo tool you can take a selfie and the tool will automatically adjust it per the guidelines.

Yes, but only if the lenses are clear with no reflections or glare. Tinted or coloured contact lenses are not allowed.

What is the recommended dimension for online photo submission on Singapore e-Services?
