The Norwegian Police Directorate issues passports to Norwegian nationals. Passport Validity for Adults and Children
The validity period of a Norwegian passport depends on the age of the passport holder at the time of issuance:
Adults (age 16 and older): Norwegian passports are valid for 10 years from the issue date. Passports cannot be extended; a new passport application must be submitted upon expiration.
Children (under 16 years): Passports issued to children under 16 years have a validity of 5 years, accommodating the rapid physical changes during childhood.
