What documents do I need when applying for a visa in the Philippines?

To successfully apply for the Philippines visa, you must submit the following documents:

  • Passport: A passport with at least 6 more months validity and 2 blank pages.

  • Application form: Print the application form and complete it fully and accurately.

  • Photos: Submit two recently taken photos measuring 35mm x 45mm with a white background. Affix one photo to the designated area on the form and cross-sign the form and the attached photo.

  • Cover letter: provide a cover letter including your name, job title, passport number, purpose of visit, duration of stay, and type of entry requested (single or multiple). This letter must be signed by the applicant and addressed to "The Visa Officer, Honorary Consulate of the Philippines, Mumbai." If self-employed, the letter should be on business letterhead.

  • Flight Ticket: Provide proof of a return flight ticket.

  • Travel itinerary: Provide a full travel itinerary, including your day-to-day travel plans, flight plans, and hotel reservations.

  • Hotel Bookings: You must provide hotel reservations with proof of payment.

  • Proof of funds: Provide a copy of your last 6 months' bank statements signed and stamped by an authority of the bank. You must also provide your last 3 years' income tax return.

  • Bank card copy: Submit a copy of your bank card or forex receipts of $700 each.

Additional documents will be required depending on your occupation.

How long in advance should I apply for my visa?

You must apply for your visa 3 weeks before travelling to allow sufficient processing time.

What is the minimum bank balance required when applying for a Philippines visa?

You must show proof of having at least ₹100,000 for your trip to the Philippines.

How long will my visa take to process?

The Philippines visa takes 10 days to process. However, various factors can delay the processing of your visa.

Do I need travel insurance when applying for a Philippine visa?

No, travel insurance is not required. However, it is advised to have travel insurance when visiting a foreign country.

What happens if my visa is rejected?

In case of visa rejection, you will receive an explanation of why your visa was denied. Once you have fixed these reasons, you can reapply for your visa. Unfortunately, you will lose the funds since the government and visa portals do not refund the visa fees, except for Atlys. At Atlys, you will receive a refund of up to ₹8000 or $100 if your visa is rejected. The refund excludes the service fees.

What are the reasons that can cause a delay in the processing of my visa?

Various factors can delay your visa processing, including the following:

  • Not providing all the required documents.

  • Having inaccurate information on your documents.

  • When you apply during peak travel seasons.

  • Not providing proof of sufficient funds.

  • When you have a criminal record.

Can I check my Philippines visa status online through Atlys?

Are there specific requirements when applying as a minor?

Yes, If the applicant is under 15 years old and travelling alone or with someone who is not a parent, an Affidavit of Support and Consent to Travel is needed. This document must be filled out and signed by one or both parents, mentioning who will accompany the minor and providing the address in the Philippines. The affidavit must be certified by a local Notary Public, approved by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and then by a consular officer at the Philippine Embassy. This document must be shown to immigration officials upon the minor's arrival in the Philippines.

Do I need an approved hotel booking when applying for a visa?

Yes, you must submit an approved hotel booking and provide proof of payment.

How long is the visa valid for?

The Philippine visa is valid for up to 90 days and allows you to stay in the country for 30 days.

Do I need to attend an interview when applying for a Philippines visa?

No, you are not required to attend an interview when applying for a Philippine visa.

Can I apply for a visa to the Philippines if I have a criminal record?

Yes, you can apply for a visa with a criminal record. However, it might delay the processing of your visa since authorities will do a background check.
