Introduction to the Pakistan Passport

The Pakistani passport currently ranks 100th, granting access to at least 32 visa-free destinations worldwide. Allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to at least 32 countries, including some in the Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, and Southeast Asia. Although its travel freedom remains limited compared to many other countries, steady efforts are being made to improve international mobility for Pakistani citizens. Over the past five years, the passport’s ranking has shown consistent improvement, rising from 113th in 2021 to 108th in 2022, 106th in 2023, and 101st in 2024, before finally reaching 100th in 2025. This positive trend reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts and stronger bilateral relations, leading to more countries extending visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to Pakistani travellers.

For detailed information, refer to the Pakistan passport guide, which includes details on visa-free countries, passport validity, ETA, visa-on-arrival options, e-visa options, required documents, and travel guidelines.

Validity Period for Adults and Children

For Adults (18 years and above):

  • Pakistani passports are available with a validity of either 5 years or 10 years.

  • Applicants can choose their preferred validity period when applying.

  • A 10-year validity is often more convenient for frequent travellers.

For Children (under 18 years):

  • Passports issued to minors are valid for 5 years.

  • This is due to regular changes in a child's physical appearance, which may require updates to their biometric data.

Important: Most countries require that a passport be valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel, so travellers should ensure their passport meets this condition before planning a trip.
