Validity Period for Adults and Children
Like most passports, the Singapore passport has an expiration date and needs renewing every so often. How long it stays valid depends on the age of the passport holder:
Adults (16 and above): Singaporeans aged 16 or older get a passport valid for 10 years. This change to a 10-year validity was introduced in October 2021, reflecting confidence in the passport’s security features for a longer period.
Children (Under 16): Younger Singaporeans get a passport valid for 5 years. A shorter validity for kids makes sense; it allows their photo and details to be updated more frequently as they grow (so that the passport still looks like them!). Children under 16 can even carry over any unused validity when getting a new passport, ensuring they don’t “lose” those years if they renew early.

The main info page shows your photo, name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, NRIC number, and more, all printed in English.
The machine-readable zone at the bottom helps with quick ID scans at immigration.
